Super Besse, creation of the new Auvergne ski resort

Super-Besse was created in 1961 at the instigation of Germain Gauthier. The station is quickly equipped with gondolas between the departure station of Cirque de la Biche and the arrival station of Puy de la Perdrix. Between 1961 and 2005, the station, meeting a growing success, invested in many ski lifts to satisfy its new client.
In 2008, the construction of the Funitel brought Super Besse into a new era, this installation boosted attendance at the Puy de Dome resort.

Super Besse and its ski area

The Super Besse ski area covers 43 km of slopes divided into 5 green slopes, 9 blue slopes, 9 red slopes and 4 black slopes. the area is located between 1300m and 1800m above sea level on the southern slope of the Sancy massif.
The ski area extends to Grand Sancy thanks to the link with the Mont-Dore area, located on the northern slope of the Puy de Sancy. 3 ski lifts allow the junction between Super-Besse and Mont-Dore ensuring the connection between the 2 ski areas. However, weather conditions (fog, wind, frost, frost) sometimes prevent the connection from opening, and from enjoying the 84 km of slopes
